Built for East-African retail

Every counter, every ledger, one quiet system.

Balanzify runs the shop, the restaurant, the pharmacy, the hotel and the building site on a single set of books — offline when the network drops, in Somali, Arabic or English, with mobile money as a first-class tender.

The platform

One deep spine. Thin vertical skins.

Most suites bolt separate products together and reconcile them later. Balanzify is one double-entry general ledger with the verticals fitted on top — so a business running a duka, a café and a guest house keeps one set of books, not three.

Double-entry underneath everything

Every sale, folio post, payroll run and milestone invoice writes a balanced journal. Trial balance, P&L, balance sheet and AR aging come out of the same ledger — no month-end export ritual.

Many locations, one business

Per-location stock, price groups, payment methods, invoice schemes and registers. Transfer stock between branches and see it in one place.

Pay for the verticals you run

Modules are enforced server-side, not just hidden in the menu. Turn on Pharmacy and it pulls in POS and Inventory automatically.

Permissions that fit a real shop floor

Granular rights — who may discount, override a price, refund, open or close a register, see profit. Cashiers sign in with a PIN; owners with 2FA.

Industries

One platform, fitted to the trade you actually run.

Turn on the verticals you operate. Each one is a skin over the same ledger, inventory and permission model — so a business that runs more than one trade still keeps a single set of books.

A till that keeps up with the queue

Ring up on a phone, a tablet or a PC. Split a payment across cash and mobile money, take it on credit, park it as a quotation, or push it through express checkout.

  • Split tender across several methods, with live change due
  • Held orders: suspend, draft and quotation
  • Cash register open and close with blind counts
  • Coupons and loyalty redemption validated on the server
  • Automatic discount rules by brand, category or location
  • Per-location stock, price groups and product variations
When the network goes

The queue does not care that the internet is down.

Checkout keeps working. Each sale is written to an on-device outbox with a client-generated idempotency key, then replayed through exactly the same service the online till uses — so a sale lands once, never twice.

Exactly once, not roughly once

A re-pushed sale returns "duplicate" instead of double-counting. A key reused with a different cart is flagged as a conflict rather than silently overwriting.

Nothing quietly disappears

A sale that fails to replay lands in a dead-letter queue to be re-synced, voided or adjusted — never dropped. One bad record never fails the whole batch.

Installs without an app store

Balanzify is a PWA. It installs on the phones, tablets and PCs your staff already carry, and digital, WhatsApp or QR receipts remove the dependency on a thermal printer.

Africa-native, not localised later

The rails your customers already use.

Mobile money is not a plugin bolted onto a Western product. Each wallet is a first-class tender that routes to its own ledger account, so cash and mobile money reconcile separately and honestly.

WhatsApp is the channel

Receipts, credit statements, payment reminders, payslips and delivery updates go out over WhatsApp with real delivery status — through the Meta Cloud API, Twilio, or a zero-config wa.me link.

Somali, Arabic and English

Not machine-translated labels — a typed message catalogue, with Arabic driving right-to-left layout across the entire application.

Hijri calendar, built in

Umm al-Qura conversion in all three languages, Ramadan aware, feeding the Zakat calculation directly.

Tax and compliance

Built for the tax regime you actually trade under.

Market profiles carry the currencies, languages, payment rails and tax regime for each country, so a new business starts with the right rate already set as default.

Tamper-evident fiscal receipts

Every receipt is signed by a virtual fiscal device and chained to the one before it, so the sequence cannot be altered after the fact. Anyone can verify a receipt from its QR code, with no login.

Signed offline, transmitted later

A receipt is signed at the counter whether or not there is a network, and queued for transmission — with the pending queue visible to the operator rather than hidden.

Zakat computed from the books

Zakatable assets — cash, mobile money, bank, receivables and inventory — less payables, taxes and financing, at 2.5% above nisab. Read from the ledger, not typed in by hand.

Tax the accountant can file

Inclusive and exclusive rates, tax groups whose value is the sum of their components, and a liability report per rate. Rates are deactivated, never deleted, so history stays auditable.

Know the business

Nineteen reports, and a ledger to back every one of them.

Every table exports to CSV, Excel or print. Every figure traces to a journal entry.

Questions

The things people ask before they switch.

What actually happens when the internet drops mid-sale?

The sale completes. It is written to an outbox on the device with a unique key, and the till shows "Saved offline — will sync when back online". When the connection returns, queued sales are replayed through the same checkout service used online, so each one is applied exactly once. If a replay fails, it is held in a recoverable queue rather than discarded.

How does mobile money work at the counter?

Zaad, eDahab, EVC Plus and telebirr are set up as tenders your cashier confirms at the counter once the transfer lands, and each routes to its own mobile-money ledger account so it reconciles separately from cash. Where a wallet exposes an API and you hold merchant credentials, collection can be automated — M-Pesa and Stripe are wired for that today.

Do I need to buy hardware?

No. Balanzify installs as a PWA on the phones, tablets and PCs you already own, with no app store involved. Receipts can go out digitally, over WhatsApp or as a QR code. If you do want paper, any generic 58mm or 80mm ESC/POS thermal printer works, and barcode label sheets are supported.

Can one business run more than one kind of trade?

That is the point of the design. A single business can run a shop, a café, a guest house and a building site at once, and they all post to one general ledger. You see one trial balance, not four systems to reconcile at month end.

Which languages does it run in?

English, Somali and Arabic, from a typed message catalogue rather than machine translation. Arabic switches the whole interface to right-to-left, not just the text.

Where does my data live, and who can see it?

Every record is scoped to your business. Access is controlled by granular permissions — who may discount, override a price, refund, open or close a register, or view profit. Cashiers can sign in with a PIN; owner accounts support two-factor authentication, and every sensitive action is written to an activity log.

Open the shutters on a calmer counter.

Create a workspace in a few minutes, put one till on it, and see the ledger fill itself. No card, no installation, no app store.
